I do realize that the priority of this action is to prevent certain plant species from entering the United States from Turkey due to the potential hazard of carrying the fungi causing white rust on chrysanthemums. However, in the same movement, you want to introduce more carnations from the Netherlands. Wouldn't it be wise to reduce or even stop the spread of alien species into otherwise carnation free areas? With the invasive fungi causing white rust on chrysanthemums, we can clearly see the harm caused by accidental, and sometimes even purposeful introduction of plant species. Why do some good in reducing some invasive species while introducing other foreign ones? This action seems to be similar to smoking a cigarette and walking at the same time, they appear to cancel each other out.
