I support Option 2 to allow interstate citrus movement of Florida Citrus with proper
sanitation. I must comment on the tens if not hundreds of million of dollars lost by
brokers, trucking companies, box companies, bag companies, printing
companies, and many more industries affected by the previous ruling. Our
monetary losses to our small packing house and our growers we represent are
substantial and in the hundreds of thousands of dollars. The previous rules in
2006 to the present are a death sentence to the 8 Billion Florida Citrus Industry in
many ways because Fresh citrus and process citrus have a good balance in
helping each other in Florida and are both needed. Contrary to Californias beliefs
our market share is very minimal and does not affect their sales. I strongly support
that ALL Florida citrus be sanitized in a registered packing house if it is to be
transported interstate. I also have faith our Florida state inspectors could easily
monitor any sanitation rules if needed.
