I am writing today to express my concern that the inspections that are required to be made prior to shipment of foreign fruits and vegetables to the US will be done by qualified individuals. What type of training will these inspectors receive in order to hold their standard in line with the US's? If what one foreign official thinks is acceptable, but to the US is not acceptable, then there will be an influx of the pests described in the Proposed Rule. These pests, if allowed in, could potentially destroy numerous crops and cause the private citizen's grocery bill to rise uncontrollably due to the lack of fresh fruits and vegetables.
