1. Accessible electrical vehicle charging space on-street parking. We are experiencing an immediate need for accessibility guidelines for electrical vehicle charging stations at street parking. Issue is the process to get up and down a curb to access the charging pedestal (with financial transaction controls) and the car’s plug in equipment (usually at the front of a car, but may be in other locations.
What is an accessible vehicle charging parking space? Scoping of quantities? Issue of cords laying across an accessible route if the accessible parking space is shared with a conventional street parking space.
2. Figure R309.2.1 illustrates the curb ramp at the forward end of the passenger loading aisle. Figure R309.2.2 illustrates a parking space at the forward end of a block. These illustrations may be too literal. They should be encased under the advisory information blocks. There are many other solutions to these issues. The curb ramp could be at the rear end of the access aisle, of the access aisle could be a depressed 5 feet side sidewalk with parallel curb ramps at either end. People assume to literal an interpretation of the figures.
3. Where a distance from curb to property line is less than `14 feet, should a curb ramp be provided at the rear of the accessible parking space (access to wheelchairs and walkers stored in car trunks)? There are many wheelchair users whom are drivers. What will be their means of access with an accessible mid-block parking space along a public right of way less than 14 feet width. There are needs to place accessible parking spaces in mid block conditions for proximity to public building access.
4. Where streets have existing running slope – at what point does it become technically infeasible or unsafe to provide an accessible parking space or passenger
