The Durham Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Commission, at its April 16, 2013 meeting, voted unanimously to endorse these guidelines. Our understanding is that these guidelines superseded an earlier proposal and will be more economical to implement than the earlier version. Our older, existing facilities would have been improved for all users if these guidelines had been in existence. The proposed accessibility guidelines are very similar to those being used for our newest facilities and seem to differ only in the greater width of the curb cuts which (again) we think will benefit all users.
