I am writing to support the Rockaway Offshore Wind Project, and your efforts to swiftly advance responsibly-sited offshore wind power off our New York coast. The area in question, the Rockaways offshore wind area, has the potential to power at least 245,000 homes, businesses and other buildings with sustainable energy that will not degrade the environment or accelerate climate change. I am extremely concerned about the impacts of climate change. Transitioning New York State to clean offshore wind energy will help keep us safer by limiting dangerous climate-changing emissions from fossil fuels, and helping to avoid more climate fueled disasters like Superstorm Sandy. By making offshore wind power a reality, we can move to a clean energy future, safeguard our environment, and combat climate change - all while bringing green job opportunities to New York. Please continue taking the necessary steps to bring offshore wind power to New York. Also, please make sure to locate these wind projects in areas that have the least likelihood of harm to marine or bird life. Thank you.
