Instead of allocating millions of dollars to domestic asparagus producers to make up for lost revenue there should be a limit on the amount of produce allowed to be imported and put these funds towards expanding domestic asparagus farms? If we want to support the national economy let's start supporting the local farmer. I am in full understanding that the amount of asparagus produced in the United States would not fill the amount needed for purchase and we will still have to import the produce but if we expand the farms we have, build structures that can help reduce the effects of wind, drought, storms, etc. we can improve the domestic farmers chances at producing bountiful crops every year and reduce our dependence on foreign imports.
