Allow students to use the continuing education deferment for international schools. I cannot afford to attend graduate school in the United States, the cost is simply too high. I already have 53k in student debt, I cannot take out any more loans. Many European universities do not have tuition, and if they do, it can be as affordable as $2,000 for the entire 2 year program. Citi and Discover will not allow deferment on private loans for international schools that are not on a list approved by the Department of Education, and will only allow forbearance for 6 months. Federal loans will also only allow deferment for schools on the DOE approved list. All of the schools on this list are extremely expensive, and would cost as much as attending a school in the U.S., and would also require taking out more loans.
