Everything we read and hear is about the protection of the consumer. When is the CFPB going to step up to stop the plaintiff attorneys from suing the agencies that you are trying to protect the consumers from? More law suits are started daily on laws that are so out of date "or" so poorly worded that attorneys twist it to whatever side they need.
Attorneys are making MILLIONS yearly on these lawsuits. Agencies have been forced to simply settle them for anywhere from $2,500 to $10,000 instead of lengthy and more expensive fights in court.
We still have laws about the use of automatic dialers that are simply out of date. Messages at this point cannot be left because the laws in place are not backed by the courts. You can't call a cell phone, even though 1 report shows that over 30% of homes now do NOT have a home phone. The reason is that it cost the consumer - when the majority are open minute plans.
You want to make the industry follow the rules. Then you have to make the rules (1) up to date and (2) clear. Take out all the guess work - then the agencies will all adapt to doing it under the law - and take out all the craziness.
We have asked and asked for help from anyone that will listen. We were hopeful that the CFPB was the answer - but all we see is more limitations and threats, but no assistance in helping the industry with clear & concise laws that make sense to protect US.
HELP US help your mission. Get the laws under control. Put some limits on attorneys who are actively advertising and promoting the suing of agencies (and the only people making money is the attorney - not the consumers!).
Thank you for reading.
