Please do not allow transportation as an option for Medicaid. Patient's in rural
areas would miss non-emergency medical appointments that over time would
most likely result in emergencey room overflow in our hospitals. This would not be
cost effective for States because they would have recipients incurring more
medical expenses that could possibly be prevented by maintaining out-patient
medical appointments. This could far exceed the less costly choice of providing
transportation. Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to respond to this
important matter.
