As a practicing Urogynecologist in Washington, DC. I wanted to share with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services(CMS) information regarding what it costs my practice when I perform urodynamic procedures. I am aware that effective January 1, 2010 there are three new CPT codes for urodynamic procedures, CPT codes 51727, 51728, and 51729. I am concerned that there may be discrepancies with the practice expense inputs used to determine the level of reimbursement for these new codes. With this sharp drop in reimbursement for this combination of urodynamic procedures, it may be difficult for my practice to continue to offer these urodynamic procedures. This may lead an eventual shut down of my practice.
