One way CMS can save a lot of wasted money is to remove the requirement that Long Term Care SNF facilities provide utilization data on their monthly bills. This requirement goes back to the old days of cost plus reimbursement and is no longer necessary in rhe RUGS system. Each month, we spend hours upon hours adding up therapist logs to present totals on the bills. There totals do not change the money we are paid, since the pay rate is based on RUG rate for each service level per the MDS. Why make us pay our therapy staff and office staff to do these totals when they do nothing to change our reimbursement? RHS
