In New Jersey, Medicaid rates are so low that patients are often unable to access medical services. As a community psychiatrist, I am concerned about the closure of hospitals and their psychiatric beds due to insufficient funds, and the lack of both psychiatric and medical services in the community. The Medicaid fee for an outpatient psychiatry visit has not changed in over 20 years; for a clinic, it is only $9.00. We cannot maintain services at this rate.
Thank you.
