In order to have enough manpower to treat the influx of Medicaid patients, Certified Athletic Trainers should be allowed to treat those patients. This can help curb costs of hiring additional Physical Therapists, who generally demand a high pay, but have more education than Physical Therapists Assistants. Certified Athletic Trainers have formal education in evaluation and treatment of injuries and prescription of therapeutic exercises. It would be a disservice to not allow Certified Athletic Trainers to work with Medicaid patients and could save small businesses millions of dollars.
