It is imperative that ICD-10 be delayed from 2013 as there are many small hospitals who have just begun their readinesss assessment and not even started their roadmap to implementation. I am fairly new to my organization and we are a full year behind based on what the industry supported propsed roadmap for implementation recomends. If we did not delay I could forsee significant impact on our facility therefore the community at large that we service. That coupled with the strong physician resistance against the movment is hurting crucial relationships between hospitals and medical staff. None of this benefits the patient of our healthcare system if we don't take into account all parties.
