Medicaid Program: Payments for Services Furnished by Certain Primary Care Physicians and Charges for Vaccine Administration Under Vaccines for Children Program

Provisions should be made to increase pay for primary care services rendered by practitioners, including nurse practitioners and physician assistants who are allowed to practice independently of physicians in their states. CMS may wish to consult with the professional organizations that represent such practitioners to determine appropriate standards and procedures for establishing them as qualifying primary care providers.
