ICD–10 Industry Readiness Assessment (CMS-10381)

CareSource completed an ICD-10 Readiness assessment in 2012. In late June 2013 we began rules and mapping activities to create forward, backward and custom maps to be utilized for reporting, trend analysis, documentation purposes. CareSource intent as of today will be using the CMS Reimbursement Map within Facets to convert from an ICD-10 to ICD-9, if necessary for reimbursement. We have recently completed an IT analysis to identify all IT remediation efforts pertaining to ICD-10. Next steps will be to update our claims processing system to meet our ICD-10 requirements. We will be working and implementing a communication plan to both internal and external sources. We also plan to have 9 – 12 months of testing with our provider network to ensure their ICD-10 compliance. CareSource is currently on track to be compliant with the October 1, 2014 implementation date.
