I work for a Gastroenterologist who sees patients in the hospital as a consult all the time. He will usually refer them for further testing. The testing he further recommends, usually gets denied because they deem in unnecessary. But some of these test are necessary if simply to rule certain conditions out as a diagnosis. I think the new regulation can possibly get some more providers paid for their claims. Now, I don't know how the hospitals will bill. I don't fool with the hospital filing and coding at all.
