This comment is in reference to the Hospital Inpatient Quality Reporting Program Requirements on pages 27677-27695 in Volume 78 No. 91 in the Federal Register, May 10, 2013. On page 27678, the text refers to “hospital acquired infection measures” and risk-adjusted outcome measures” whereas on pages 27683 and 27694, the text references “healthcare-associated infection measures”. Could CMS please clarify the following: Are the hospital acquired infection measures referenced on page 27678 the same as those listed as “healthcare-associated infection measures” on pages 27683 and 27694? Are the healthcare-associated infection measures also risk-adjusted? And if so, how are they adjusted?
