Request a public hearing on this proposal. 1. Past Air Force behavior concerning the Air Force's attempts has demonstrated a propensity for providing minimum information rather than full disclosure. 2. The public has had little or no information of this proposed designation with one article of which I am aware in the local newspaper 3 days before the time for comment has expired and that article based I'm sure on a news release by the Eglin AFB information office. Most have become aware only by word of mouth. 3. Eglin is currently in the environmental assessment phase for significant construction of privately built government housing (1474 units). Less than 2 weeks ago, public comment was obtained concerning 6 different proposals for this construction of 1474 housing units. One alternative was for construction of housing adjacent to the Camp Pinchot site for the proposed restricted area 334.xxx and it is popular the belief that that is the favored alternative. Final determination of the proposed site for this construction will be in the May-June 2010 timeframe. To use the Camp Pinchot site, the proposal will result in the historical dwellings currently used for Senior Officers quarters and immediately landward of the proposed restricted site, being transferred to the civilian construction firm for the multiyear build out period making the restricted area unnecessary. 4. It has been suggested that the restricted area in Bayou Poquito which is at places greater than one half of the width of the entire bayou would pose a navigational hazard to larger civilian vessels since much of the remainder is obstructed with private dockage, groynes, and seawalls, most of which are unlighted or marked so that they are visible in times of reduced visibility. There are no navigational aids in Poquito Bayou. If a risk assessment of dangers of navigation along Poquito Bayou has not been performed, one should be conducted by the Coast Guard. 5. We need a public hearing.
