The website that was used for this project is the U.S Food and Drug Administration. Parabens being used in cosmetics has been a controversial topic, many people are sensitive to these products, but they are in everything from toothpaste to lotions. These are used as preservatives.
“The Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act1 (FD&C Act) does not authorize FDA to approve cosmetic ingredients, with the exception of color additives that are not coal-tar hair dyes. In general, cosmetic manufacturers may use any ingredient they choose, except for a few ingredients that are prohibited by regulation (http://www.fda.gov/Cosmetics/ProductandIngredientSafety/SelectedCosmeticIngredients/ucm128042.htm)”.
Cosmetics cannot be misbranded or falsely labeled; the ingredients are not necessarily in question unless there are improper color additives.
After reading about the regulations concerning Cosmetics and health products in this US. Many products are not regulated properly. The strides that this agency has made to make hand held dryers safer there was a time when hand held blow driers were melting and causing electrocutions. By regulating the UL levels, it can lead to safer usage levels. By not regulating this I can see that they are misbranded and faslely labeled.
