The new CPSC regulation regarding the revision of standards concerning cribs has my full unconditional support. This regulation brought plenty of debates among families, businesses and concerned agencies regarding the safety of cribs. Investigations and recalls related to the cribs and a list of areas of considerations were presented and discussed. It is important to take a stand on this issue due to the fact that many innocent infants and toddler’s lives are at stake with the present defective cribs.
Businesses involved in the assembly of cribs must anticipate new regulations and research performed by the agencies in order to reduce overstock inventory. The price of cribs might increase dramatically if constant changes to crib assembly are demanded by the government health and safety agency. The government must allow room for research and development and encourage competition among crib assemblers as they will compete to develop a safer and affordable as the demand of cribs will exist due to the country’s increasing population.
