I think that the proposed changes to the safety standards for play yards are warranted. The changes that are proposed will simplify the testing standard in which play yards tested for safety. In the proposal it stated that there were a high number of fatalities, and that 2 of these fatalities were due to the child being strangled by the top cross support beam. I think with the clarification of the floor testing standards that it might lessen the chance for a child that is leaning on the cross beam to become strangled or injured if the play yard floor was to give away. I think that a product that parents depend on as much as play yards to help with their children need to have the strictest testing standard and the clearest manner in which to conduct these tests. Children are innocent victims to any faulty equipment such as the play yard, and an unnecessary fatality or injury to a child is unacceptable. Thank you!
