Safety Standard for Bedside Sleepers

View Comment

As a parent of three young children, I have learned that bedside sleepers are one of the most important accessories that parents can have with a newborn. Building the bond between parent and child starts with being within a hands reach at all times, especially at night during the first several months of life. Having the security of knowing that the sleeper you place your child in has been reviewed for safety concerns, that it can not be put together unless it is actually done correctly and that there are standards for its design in order to keep the child safe is something that all parents should have the right to feel. Please consider passing this rule so that no other child or family has to face a tragic event like the cases discussed in this rule. Thank you!
