Dear Sir / Madam,
Currently Florida Power and Light Company is submitting paper invoices to DoD. Since 2007, there have been efforts going on to convert this process to EDI (using ANSI X12 standard). FPL is set up with EDI infrastructure and has access to WAN with some providers (example: GXS).
The Federal Register DFARS Case 2006-D049 takes a position on the WAWF-RA system and how vendors communicate with DoD using various methods. I am not very clear from this publication if ANSI X12 EDI will be supported in future. I understand that EDI (ANSI X12) is currently supported.
I called Wide Area Workflow Customer Support (case: 287262) and confirmed via telephone that EDI (ANSI X12) is supported. But I did not get a clear answer that EDI (ANSI X12) will be supported in future.
Before recommending an approach or solution to FPL, I would like to obtain a clear understanding of our interfacing options with DoD. In this regard, please advise if we should proceed with EDI (ANSI X12) with SFTP or WAN (through GXS).
