I am writing in opposition of the proposed changes to the Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS) that would require heightened security of unclassified information shared between the Department of Defense and those with whom the department has contracted. This proposed rule would create a barrier to transparency in non-classified operations in which the government has engaged the private sector. Further, this rule would add yet another layer of bureaucracy onto doing business with the Dept. of Defense, potentially barring less sophisticated firms from entering the market which would restrict the number of firms from which the department can acquire goods and services, thus restricting competition and increasing prices.
