The definition of "private security functions" at DFARS 225.370-3 differs from the definition stated in DFARS 252.225-7039 and DoDI 3020.50. At DFARS 225.370-3 it uses the operator "and" between paragraph (1) and (2) making it unclear whether private security functions are only those activities in which personnel are authorized to carry weapons in the performance of their duties. The definition at DFARS 252.225-7039 and DoDI 3020.50 make it clear that it could be performed unarmed and still subject to these policy requirements. Recommend revising the definition at DFARS 225.370-3 to make it consistent with the other definitions.
