Comment on DOD_FRDOC_0001-DRAFT-0038

In regard to the TRICARE Retired Reserve....first is is a great thing for those of us who have served our country with honor and distinction to receive such a benefit.....or at least that is my former thinking. In order for this to a benefit, the price structure should have been such that it would equal a benefit. To have a price that is similar to that of the open market, I fail to see the benefit. The net result is that this benefit isn't really one at all. I would ask that you look to the program that currently allows a current Reservist to purchase TRICARE at 25% of the cost. Now that is a benefit. I'm sure that ROA, American Legion, VFW and others will weigh in similarly. This isn't a benefit to those who served honorably for at least 20 years - to simply offer them a product - that they must compare with the retail market..........looks like another "Thank you" from the Federal Government for our years of service. Might I offer an alternative - If the current administration wants to socialize our medical programs, then let's start with the current program that is Social Health Care - the VA system. For those of us retirees, why not put us into that system upon retirement. It is already a tangible option for us.......this versus creating a new system and infrastructure would seem to make must better sense. Respectfully - William D Braack, Msgt, USAFR (Ret), 20 years
