In allowing the government and DOD to provide shelters for the homeless on DOD facilities, DOD would be carrying out a social good. Among the considerations in implementing this policy, because of the existence of numbers of veterans who may be homeless or without shelter, preference, to the extent possible, should be given to homeless veterans or their families in the allocation of established homeless shelters on government or DOD facilities.
Such shelters should also have responsible persons able to advise any veterans requiring homeless shelter of the benefits, treatment, employment, and counseling, including VA benefits and PTSD evaluation and potential treatment or benefits available through the US Govt, Department of Veterans Affairs, or DOD.
