2010-07-27 Comment supporting the proposed rule and suggesting that education and awareness policies be added to make federal buildings even more sustainable

This proposed rule is very appropriate, and comes at a time when the federal government can clearly be a leader in innovative strategies to make the buildings it owns, operates or inhabits, more sustainable. It would be helpful to have requirements related to the policies, education and awareness of the employees (occupants) and other users of the building because without concomitant behavior change in the pooulation, many conservation efforts for water and energy, or mitigation of waste, increases in recycling, reduction in toxic materials or those with high VOC's can be inadvertently sabotaged, or their potential minimized by inappropriate building and supply use. We encourage you to add requirements for such policies and education. Thank you for putting this forward!
