I agree that the DOE should change its safety standards by implementing the Nuclear Regulatory Commission's "Safety-Conscious Work Environment" guidelines as a model for themselves. Workers should be able to address their conerns about working in their environment, especially one that deals with anything nuclear, without the fear of losing their job. No one should have to worry about their safety while they are working. DOE employees shouldn't have to worry about whether their personal safety outweighs losing their job. If an employee feels that something should be changed in order to make his/her job safer they should be able to address it without fear of reprecussions.
