For 1400-AC79 proposed changes to the J-1 visa program. Please do not place these regulations on summer camps. The J-1 Visa student exchange has added a great deal to our camp program. Over the last 25 years we have sponsored counselors from 28 countries, who have shared their language, culture and traditions with our campers and in turn learned about American culture and beliefs. Having to fulfill the regulations that are in the bill would be so restrictive to our small summer camp that we would no longer participate in the exchange program. We think you should separate residential summer camps from other types of programs covered by J-1 visa. We all supply housing, meals, training and the opportunity for a true cultural exchange. You should know that the overall costs of a j-1 visa student counselor than an American counselor, so we are certainly not participating for any kind of cost savings.
