Please adopt strict, enforceable regulations to protect airline passenger rights
to be treated with dignity and fairness.
The airline industry has shown time and again to be incapable of self regulation
in this area. Therefore, the Federal government must step in and develop
strict, common sense regulations which apply to ALL airlines mandating the the
health, wellbeing and rights of passenger will be protected.
I do not believe the three hour tarmac time frame outline in the proposal is
acceptable. It should be shortened to a maximum of two hours. Airlines who
have knowledges of departure delay issues should be restricted from boarding
passengers until these are completely resolved. Airlines should be responsible
for reasonable accommodations who incur complication with connecting flights.
Passengers must be provided avenues of timely reporting and redress, including
full refund of all travel related expenses.
Agency oversight must include timely reporting, prominent posting of passenger
rights and strict penalties for non-compliance.
It is both time and appropriate that the airlines be held to a higher standard
for passenger rights and carrier responsibility. The Federal government must be
the ones to actively impose these standards, ensure they are strictly enforced
and severely penalize non-compliance.
Thank you
