RE: Sec. 501.3 Notice of appeal.(e) (e) Time limitations for filing. Any notice of appeal must be filed within 180 days from the date of issuance of a decision of the OWCP. The Board maintains discretion to extend the time period for filing an appeal if an applicant demonstrates compelling circumstances. COMMENT: ECAB seems to be hinting that the time limitation of an automatic one year for filing is to be discontinued. Since the language concept hasn't changed except for the 90 to 180 days, something more explicit would be appreciated regarding whether the automatic one year is to be abandoned.
