Comment on FR Doc # 2011-10909

On behalf of graduate and professional students nationwide, the National Association of Graduate-Professional Students (NAGPS) provides the following comments in regards to Income-Based Repayment (IBR) and Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF): 1.) Change forgiveness period to 20 years for IBR and ICR for all borrowers. 2.) Simplify and remove inequity in the definition of full-time employment for Public Service Loan Forgiveness (CFR 685.219). In general, NAGPS supports federal income-based loan repayment programs and loan forgiveness/forbearance policies for workers in nonprofit fields, public service, and underserved communities. We ask that the Department of Education continue to expand IBR programs and PSLF policies that aid those graduate and professional students in most need of relief from student loan debt.
