I would like to applaud the Department of Education for proposing to remove the requirement for having all gainful employment programs run through the approval process in 600.10(c)(1). We have been through this process and it has been extremely burdensome for both the institution as well as the Department of Education. The turnaround time on the approval process was extremely slow. We were informed by our regional office that they were back logged due to all the regulatory changes and paperwork that is now required based on adding "gainful employement" programs. This change will alleviate the majority of programs needing to be run through this process. The programs that need to follow this process due to failing in the past will continue to be reviewed and that makes perfect sense.
Thanks for recognizing the burden placed on all parties in this process and making the recommended necessary changes to rectify this opportunity.
