To whom it may concern: As a full-time facutly member of a public technical college, I write to you to express my grave concern for the fate of our public education system. Once heralded as a beacon for those hoping to realize the American Dream, it has been so crippled by NCLB and decreases in state as well as federal funding, I fear for its very life. Yes, test scroes seem to be falling. Why? because educators and their mighty unions are failing our students? Isnt' it more likely that pressure on the system is to blame? And what exactly is the cult of testing measuring? How reliable is it? You may argue that you have recently provided an escape valve for the states. Thankfully. But is it too late and more of the same? have to ask where is the leadership on your part? What are you going to do from here? How have you decided your course of action? How many real educators helped develop the new policy
