DOC ID ED-2013-OSERS-0024-0001 proposed priorities NIDRR The title 29 U.S.C section 762-763 talk about the responsibility of the director to widely disseminate educational materials and research results concerning ways to maximize the full inclusion and integration into society, employment, independent living , family support, economic and social self sufficiency of individuals with intellectual disabilities. Recent research has proven that educational inclusion benefits students with disabilities. research has also shown that peer mentoring benefits all. I can tell you many students with disabilities, like my son, who has a dual diagnosis , are segregated against medical advice. All evaluations say he would benefit from inclusion. He is physically strong also but the old habits of isolating and segregation will not change without change at the administrative level. IEP teams have not listened to one word of his parents or the expert AT evaluation from WATR. If this behavior of administrators teaching all the disabled to not belong . They never will.
