ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AGENCY
Docket ID No. EPA-HQ-OAR-2005-0526
National Emission Standards for Hazardous Air Pollutants: Paint Stripping and
Miscellaneous Surface Coating Operations at Area Sources
Publication: Federal Register, [Proposed Rules] September 17, 2007 (Volume 72,
Number 179), pages 52957-52982
Ladies and Gentlemen of the EPA: 9/28/07
It was interesting and informative to review the subject proposed rule intended for
40 CFR Part 63.
Since society deals with many chemicals nowadays, it would seem to be
beneficial if the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency would provide the CAS
Registry Number of any chemical that it regulates so that searching for its
information becomes more readily available.
Methylene Choride has the CAS Registry Number of 75-09-2. There doesn't
appear to be any reason not to include this number for easier cross-reference to
additional information on this chemical.
It would be most welcomed by the scientific community to hereafter include this
valuable key for researchers as well as the general public to enhance our
informational capabilities about chemicals in our environment.
Chemical Abstracts Service (CAS), the global leader in chemical information, and
a division of the American Chemical Society, provides the most comprehensive
databases of publicly disclosed research in chemistry and related sciences,
including the world's largest collection of substance information, the CAS
REGISTRY. If you have need to contact CAS for any inquiries, try their mailing
