To meet the requirements of the Montreal Protocol the industrialised world is required to change from HFC Refrigerants and introduce more climate friendly and efficient alternatives. When reviewing the alternatives one school of thought advocated developing substitutes with similar characteristics to the HFC products and another advocated developing new and more efficient refrigeration equipment. However after years of development the newer and more environmentally acceptable substitutes introduced over the past 10 years have had generally negative elements involving the use of higher pressures and consequential technical safety aspects.
However in the case of HCR188C and its derivitives refrigerants are now becoming available that are non-toxic, non ozone depleting and efficient at low operating pressures. Technical safety aspects of installation and maintenance have been reduced to a minimum. HCR 188C and C1 are the green refrigerants of the 21st Century.
