Please set the strongest fuel efficeincy standards as realistically possible for mid to heavy grade trucks. Every gallon of fuel not used contributes to less money sent to countries that support terrorism and less money to purchase weapons that are used against American troops and civilians. Reducing American demand for oil will mean fewer bullets aimed at our soldiers, and fewer regions destabilized by climate change and falling under terrorist influence.
Thank you for setting the upper limit of light vehicle fuel efficiency standards at 62mpg. That is a great step toward reducing America’s dependence on oil, which in turn will have a positive impact on our national security. I expect the final ruling to be as close as possible to 62mpg.
I hope that you will be equally ambitious in your ruling for mid-to-heavy grade trucks. These are the biggest gas guzzlers on the road, and dramatically improving their gas mileage would mean keeping hundreds of billions of petrodollars out of our enemies’ pockets and minimizing America’s contribution to climate change. This is a serious issue for our soldiers, our veterans, and all Americans. Thank you again for your efforts thus far to protect America with clean energy policies, and I look forward to a strong fuel efficiency ruling in the coming weeks.
