Recommend Urea be Removed from the DHS Proposed List Urea (Fertilizer) (STQ ? 2000 lbs.): I Request that DHS exclude urea fertilizer from the final list of chemicals of interest. Urea is an organic compound that occurs naturally in animals and some plants. Urea fertilizer is the primary source of dry nitrogen (N) nutrient used by the green industry (lawn care and landscape companies) due to its relatively high nitrogen content, ease of handling, and price. Urea can be applied to turf as a solid (granular) or mixed with water (solution). Urea in solution can be applied to trees, shrubs and flowers as a foliar treatment.
