I have been a golf course Superintendent in the Truckee/Tahoe region of Northern
California for 16 years. I manage 3 top-ranked courses which have extreme
disease pressure from Pink and Gray Snow Mold disease. Our snow cover can
last up to 150 days and is normally over 120 days. There are no other products on
the market that control these diseases for that amount of time. All of our courses
are on a comprehensive water monitoring program that monitors both surface
water and ground water. In 6 years of testing we have never found PCNB in any of
our samples. The replacement value of our bent grass putting greens is
approximately 22 million dollars (for all 3 courses) and the amount of revenue lost
is untold if we have a catastrophic disease occurance. Please allow the continued
use of PCNB for turf grass on golf courses. Turf grass is mother natures best
water filter and this product is not ever applied to bare ground on any golf course.
The use of PCNB for field crops (and other) should not be lumped in with turf grass
for this specific reason.
