To whom it may concern, I would like to express my concern about the recent Re-registration Eligibility Document (Red) for PCNB. We are a small family owned golf course located in the western section of Massachusetts. Pink Snow Mold has been a major issue for us in the past. PCNB was incorporated into our spray program for a few reasons. First and foremost, PCNB is an extremely cost effective control method for Pink Snow Mold. The use of PCNB, as opposed to other chemical control methods, has saved us thousands of dollars through out the year. For example, we were able to spray our fairways and tees with PCNB for $1,800. If I were to use the next least expensive fungicide it would have cost me $7,800. As I stated before, we are a small family owned golf course, and we would be unable to afford this cost. As a result, we would lose considerable business in the spring due to snow mold damage. Second, PCNB is considered one of the most effective measures used in preventing snow mold. I recently attended a seminar, at which, Dr. Joe Vargas, from Michigan State, was a guest speaker. Almost all of his preventative snow mold recommendations contained PCNB. He also noted that the most effective way to control snow mold was through the use of PCNB. Our small business would suffer dramatically without the use of PCNB. Thank your for your time.
