I am writing to express my heavy opposition to the considered ban of msma in
turfgrasses. The use of msma is critical for control of many problemsome weeds
found in turfgrasses everywhere. My main concern has to do with dallisgrass
control. While dallisgrass is commonly mistaken for crabgrass, control is much
different and very difficut. While crabgrass is an annual and can be controlled by
pre-emergent herbicides, dallisgrass is perenially and pre-emergents are not
effective. Dallisgrass is everywhere and is becoming very invasive, the only current
chemical available to treat it effectively without killing an entire yard is msma. The
removal of the registration of this product will result in major lawn issues for
homeowners.
Thank You
