Aloha kakou,
I am against this permit to grow GMO cotton in the Hawaiian islands. We are not
an experimental station! I repeat, We are not an experimental station! Our islands
have a unique ecosystem and plants that have evolved over thousands of years
isolated in the middle of the Pacific ocean. Alien plants have alrady wrecked
havoc here. With the GMO track record of NO ACCOUNTABILITY, uncontrolled
contamination, and ownership and greedy profiteering of life it is clear that Hawaii
will only be used for private gain and profit. Our native cotton- MA`O- could well be
impacted.
We as people of the earth need more low tech biodiversity ag development instead
of gaint agri-business monocropping. BT like DDT may be good for the immediate
control of insects, but have dangerous longer range impacts.
Protect us- it's your job.
mahalo nui loa,
Vince Kana`i Dodge
