I agree with this recommended termination of uses for carbaryl and am quite happy to see that this has been requested of the EPA. However, I urge the EPA to cancel ALL uses of carbaryl because of the risks associated with its use. It is a neurotoxin that is harmful to people, pets, and important pollinators such as bees. An example of a use not mentioned: Nowhere does this request suggest limiting the use of carbaryl for spraying against Mountain Pine Beetle. Currently, tens of thousands of trees are sprayed each year in Colorado. Carbaryl is one of two popular insecticides used for this purpose. If it is being terminated for use as a broadcast spray for lawn care, why isn't it also being terminated for use on trees? I assume the same risks apply in both cases to children, pets, adults, and bees and other insects. Please consider canceling all uses of carbaryl. And please do not allow companies to manufacture or sell it if you do accept this request for termination. Eighteen months is not acceptable if you deem that these tighter regulations are warranted! Thank you.
