Due to the necessity of combating leaf miner and nematodes in the coffee
plantations of Puerto Rico we are pleased to know that EPA is moving forward in
aproving the use of Aldicarb (Temik brand) in the in the recommended manner. It
has come to our knowledge that besides the manual incorporation of the product
into the soil the mechanical closed system is also available.
It is very important for the coffee production in Puerto Rico to maintain highly
productive farms. The use of necessary and aproved pesticides is essential to
having succesful farms. The mountain region depends greatly on this farm
production. Our main goal is being able to be self sufficient and eventually export
quality coffee.
We appreciate the EPA assistance in maintaining our crops and workers safe.
