The proposed regulation seems to aim to increase pesticide tolerances on produce generally from fractions of parts per million to whole parts per million. If that statement is correct, the proposed regulation seems unfavorable. Though it may save effort and expenditure for affected parties' processes, increasing toxicant level tolerances of any kind is ill advised. It also seems it would establish tolerances for more exotic fruit. If there is a lack of tolerances for such fruit, establishing tolerances would be good. However, this comment disapproves of the details of the regulation, in general. Studies have established that altering exposure to toxicants, even at increments as small as parts per million can have even devastating effects on consumers, especially those developing. Regulation in this area should aim for controls as tight as possible to abstain from as much exposure as is possible for producers and consumers alike.
