For the most part, local government is in a very poor position to even respond to this proposed rule as many don't have the resources to track this issue or reply. This is a shame considering that local government is really in the position of contracting for services that use pesticides and procuring pesticides for their own use both of which can harm their communities and local environment.
The City of Santa Monica is hugely in favor of requiring disclosure of inert ingredients in pesticides. We use pesticides that can contain as little as .001% of an active ingredient and we don't know what the other ingredients are and if they are harmful to humans or animals.
We apply these products in our communities and need this information to make informed decisions. We are a coastal community and we need information on aquatic toxicity and biodegradability so that we make appropriate decisions. We need this information. I sure hope the pesticide lobbyist don't block this.
Please make it a requirement that inert ingredients in pesticides are identified and publicly available.
Thanks for your consideration.
